About Felicia

Felicia Behm grew up in Monument, Colorado and received her Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2009 from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Felicia has studied with Dane Richeson, Andrew Mast, Jamie Ryan, I Dewa Ketut Alit Adnyana, Laura Sindberg, Aaron Turner, Contra-Mestre Galego, and Joan Knab. Her studies at Lawrence included percussion, education and conducting, with focuses on classical percussion, West African drum and dance, Afro-Cuban and Brazilian drumming, and Balinese gamelan. She has also participated in the International Body Music Festival and co-founded Lawrence University’s first body music ensemble, Beats On My Body, with Stacey Stoltz (LU ’11).

Felicia has performed in a variety of ensembles, including the Lawrence University Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, and Opera. She has performed with LUPE, Kinkaviwo, Sambistas, Gamelan Cahaya Asri, and Gamelan Tunas Mekar with I Made Lasmawan. Felicia also performed as principal percussionist in the American River College Orchestra, and performed with the ARC symphonic and concert bands. Felicia also trains with the United Capoeira Association, where she has studied with Contra-Mestre Galego and Mestre Galo.

Felicia served as a clinician for the Fox Valley Youth Symphony and as an instructor for the Lawrence Academy of Music summer camp. She worked as a student teacher in the Kimberly School District with teachers Craig Gall and Carol Lenz. She then traveled to Madrid, Spain to teach English, followed by a move to the Sacramento Area where she worked as the band director at Lincoln High School. Felicia currently lives in Englewood, CO, where she owns and teaches through Slap Happy Music Studio.

Felicia has worked with a variety of artists, including Michael Spiro, Nancy Zeltsman, Nani Agbeli, Keith Terry, Fernando Barba, Joe Locke, Jackeline Rago, Vadim Karpinos, Michael Burritt, Gordon Stout, Samuel Adler, Mestre Acordeon, and Max Pollack.
